Types of insurance in super explained
27 Jan 2023 4 min readAt NGS Super, we offer 3 types of insurance to members: Life insurance, Total and Permanent Disablement cover and Income Protection. Each type essentially protects you from the same risk: losing your ability to earn an income. The differences are in how you lose your ability to work, and how your cover is paid out.
Life insurance
Life insurance can provide a lump sum if you die or become terminally ill. You need to nominate the beneficiaries of your super account so it’s clear who the lump sum should go to.
Total and Permanent Disablement
Total and Permanent Disablement (TPD) cover can provide a lump sum payment if you’re permanently unable to work due to illness or injury.
Income Protection
Income Protection can provide you with a regular income if you become too sick or injured to work.
