2020 Mother’s Day Classic goes virtual!
01 Apr 2020 2 min readThis Mother’s Day, as they have every year since 1998, thousands of people across Australia will walk, run and fundraise in support of breast cancer research – but this year, there’s a difference. For the first time ever, the Mother’s Day Classic is a virtual event.
Facing the reality (and vital importance) of social isolation, the Mother’s Day Classic will go ahead as an event that everyone can do where and when works for them. How does it work? Simple — just walk or run 4km or 8km – in your loungeroom, your backyard, your local park (so long as it’s not crowded) or on a treadmill, any time on or before Sunday 10 May. It’s a great way to show that we can work together, even when we’re physically apart.
It’s easy to forget, when the world is focused on COVID-19, that people everywhere are still facing other serious health challenges. Let’s do what we can to make sure that life does indeed go on.
This year marks NGS Super’s 10th year as a sponsor of the Mother’s Day Classic, and we’re proud of our association with this great event.
Breast cancer affects one in seven females in Australia. Over 70% of NGS Super members are women, so this disease has affected our members personally. We wholeheartedly support a cause that donates 100% of proceeds to help research and potentially find a cure for a disease that not only affects mothers, sisters, daughters and friends, but also their families and communities.
