As a leading super fund for education professionals, NGS was proud to be a gold sponsor of the 2024 Catholic Education Awards South Australia. The awards celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions to Catholic education made by staff and volunteers in South Australian Catholic schools and Catholic Education Offices within the Archdiocese of Adelaide, the Diocese Port Pirie.
On May 16, NGS Super CEO Natalie Previtera, Customer Relationship Manager Elaine Santos and Head of Customer Engagement Ben Basedow attended the awards and presented the Religious Education Teacher category to two exceptional educators.
Mirella Romeo, Nazareth Catholic Community
A passionate Religious Educator, Mirella’s commitment goes beyond her official duties. She actively connects with students, employing contemporary methods rooted in the Catholic Tradition to engage them fully. By intertwining Student Faith Formation Days with the Crossways Curriculum at every grade level, Mirella ensures students receive a rich and meaningful Religious Education experience.

Lucina Loro Parham, St Mary’s College
Lucina Loro Parham has been an integral part of St Mary’s College since 2002, primarily teaching Drama, Religious Education, and Research Projects. Throughout her tenure, she has assumed various leadership roles, including serving as the Retreat Coordinator for the middle school and Acting Religious Education Coordinator. Lucina views Religious Education as a journey of life learning, valuing the diverse perspectives of her students and seeing herself as a learner alongside them. Her approach integrates intellectual, emotional, and practical aspects, drawing on contemporary resources, embracing religious diversity, and incorporating Catholic Social Teaching principles.

Twelve educators, as well as teams of two innovative school programs and a dedicated school volunteer, were acknowledged for their contributions to Catholic education. The event began with Mass at St Francis Xavier's Cathedral, with formalities following at the Hilton Adelaide. This is NGS’ third year sponsoring the event.
