16 Jan 2025 2 min readDo you put superannuation in the "too hard basket?" Maybe it's something you know is happening in the background of your life, but you don't pay a lot of attention to it. However, super is your savings and can ultimately shape your future. Taking a few simple steps now to manage your super can help create the big tomorrow of your dreams.
At NGS, we want to breakdown misconceptions that super is "complicated" or "confusing". Super should be straightforward and something that you can get excited about. Starting with these 5 easy steps, you can get your super on track.
1. Online access
Check your balance by logging into your account at ngssuper.com.au/login. While you’re there, you can review your personal details and make sure they are up to date.
2. Consolidate your super
Consolidating your super into one account can set your super up for success. Be sure to check your insurance cover before consolidating so you don’t lose any benefits. Consolidate your super.
3. Check your insurances
Most members have death and Total and Permanent Disablement (TPD) and Income Protection cover. We can help you with your cover and see if you are eligible for NGS Insurance Select or Plus. Find out more about your insurance.
4. Update your beneficiaries
You’ll need to tell us who you would like your super and any insurance benefit paid to in the event of your death. You can do that by making a binding or a non-binding beneficiary nomination.
5. Review your investments
You can’t control the ups and downs of the investment market, but you can control how you invest your super. Talk to us about investment choices and determine which strategy is best for you.
