There’s more to sustainable super investments than the wind farms or hydro projects that might spring to mind. 101 Second Street, San Francisco, is a 26-storey office building that is an icon of environmental sustainability, and is just one of the investments that NGS Super holds through global investment manager Invesco Ltd.
Completed in 2006, 101 Second is famous for its stunning 4-storey glass atrium that operates as a public open space, featuring an ‘art pavilion’ of paintings and sculptures, and has continued to prioritise sustainable operations since it was built. It has been awarded the ENERGY STAR® certification for the past 17 years, achieving a score of 95 in 2021, and it was also certified Platinum in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (“LEED®”) v4.1 Operations and Maintenance (“O+M”): Existing Buildings in 2019.
Maintaining its future focus, 101 Second has recently made significant efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of tenants and all building occupants, addressing a post-COVID-19 environment now and broader health and safety-related issues into the future. In October 2021, the property received the WELL Health-Safety Rating.
